WPCC
Who are Waurn Ponds Community Church? - that is a good question! First and foremost, we are all about Jesus; we are people of all ages and all backgrounds building a community who love, serve and bring honour to God. Church is people - it is not a program, a building, an event or a gathering. The church is people and people are the church. We are a group of missionaries, a family of believers, a community of individuals united by a common relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our Vision
Our vision is clear; we have a picture of who we are and what we want to do. The following is what we believe God has called us to be:
WPCC is a God honouring Christian community who passionately obey the Great Commandment and live out the Great Commission.
Let’s break down those two things:
What is the Great Commandment? - To love God with all our heart, our mind, our soul and heart and to love our
neighbour as ourselves (Matt 22:37-38)
. Loving our neighbour is also where the Great Commission begins -
...go into all the world and make disciples (Matt 28:16-18)
.
Disciples are simply people who try to be and live like Jesus - Christ Followers.
Our Mission
Our mission, our mandate is what motivates us as people and as the church to make a difference
WPCC is about connecting people to Jesus Christ, developing them into Christ-like maturity and empowering them to a meaningful life of service in the church, community and world.
What does that mean?
...connecting people to Jesus is as simple as that! It is sharing the love of Jesus by our actions and the words we speak, introducing them to the best friend they could ever have and someone who can change their life forever - Jesus Christ.
...developing them into Christ-like maturity is all about helping each one of us to live like Jesus did, realising there will be ups and downs, however Jesus offers peace in the midst of difficulty and hope instead of despair.
...empowering them to a meaningful life of service. Jesus came to serve and give his life for everyone (Matt 20:26-28) and he calls us to do the same. Being a Christ follower means it's not about me and what I get out of it but it is about people - our family, our friends, our neighbours and others around us. It’s about loving them and serving them in any way possible.
